Richmond College Summit Recap

Salutations!

From February 7th to February 8th I was at the Richmond College Summit with the University of Mary Washington. It was hosted by the Office for Evangelization in the Greater Richmond Convention Center at the same time as the Diocesan Youth Conference (DYC), which is basically the high school version of Summit. (I went to DYC last year and had an absolute blast.) Even though Mary Wash is in the Diocese of Arlington and not Richmond, we were kindly invited to attend!

This short conference was much-needed and allowed me to refocus my priorities and remember what this life is all about: glorifying the Lord. I had a fun time getting to see some old friends from DYC, as well as just enjoying the company of such a large community of faith-filled young people.

There was trivia, a small marketplace, breakout sessions, and opportunities to receive the Sacraments. I really appreciate that they offered Reconciliation on Friday night because it allowed me to receive the Eucharist on Saturday fully confident that I was in a state of grace.

The speakers, Oscar Rivera and Beth Davis, both did a great job. I especially enjoyed Beth’s talk during the women’s session.

My favorite part hands down was Adoration on Saturday night. They had prayer teams in the back, and my prayer leaders were wonderful. As usual, the band did a beautiful job, which just added to the atmosphere. I always have a very powerful Adoration experience at conferences like these, and Summit did not disappoint.

The College Summit is definitely much smaller than say, SEEK25, but that also makes it less overwhelming. Being from the Richmond area I was happy to be closer to home and that I got to see Bishop Barry Knestout.

I plan to go next year, and hopefully I see even more friends from UVA, VA Tech, JMU, etc.!

Here are some pictures.
