Me mid-dance to Doechii's "Anxiety"

PAC PAC PAC PAC

I’m going to subject my loyal fans to another PAC (Performing Arts Company) blog post.

Small Show

This semester I was asked to be in two Small Show pieces! One was a spy-themed dance to the theme song of the Disney Channel show K.C. Undercover. The second was a hip-hop number to a mash-up of several Eminem songs.

Because Small Show is halfway through the semester (early October) we had to learn the choreography much quicker than my Big Show pieces. It was a little overwhelming toward the end, but I’m so happy I was included in Small Show this semester.

Here is the spy-themed dance!
Here’s the Eminem one!

Big Show

I was in two Big Show pieces as well this semester: a contemporary piece to Hozier’s “Francesca” and a sharp contemporary to “Anxiety” by Doechii. I had wanted to expand my genres this year, so I was excited to be in contemporary! As a lover of Gotye’s “Somebody I Used to Know,” I was originally skeptical of dancing to “Anxiety.” However, it was a lot of fun, and I enjoyed the unique choreography and the chance to act totally distressed on stage.

I had underestimated how difficult it would be to have four rehearsals a week instead of just one like last year, but it was so worth it. Luckily, I only had two a week after Small Show.

Looking Ahead

Next semester, my plan is to choreograph a piece myself! Since I’ve done two semesters of PAC, I’m eligible to choreograph for Small Show. If it’s approved, next semester you can look forward to seeing a hip-hop number to “Thrift Shop” by Macklemore. I’m super pumped!

Until next time–remember to stretch before exercising!
